Sumner is a city in Pierce County, Washington, in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 8,504. Sumner was officially incorporated on February 7, 1891. It was named for Charles Sumner, a strongly anti-slavery US Senator from Massachusetts. Sumner is located at 471221N, 122149W (47.205823, -122.235803)GR1.
